Proper care of the VELscope Vx battery is essential to ensure the device operates effectively and has a long lifespan.  When should I suspect a VELscope Vx battery failure?

• You put it in the Charging Cradle (or connect it directly to the power supply) and either (a) there is no Green flashing LED or (b) although the Green LED starts to flash, it never turns to solid Green even after being left for a few hours.

• The unit may stop working before your exam is finished although it was initially fully charged.

• After charging, your VELscope may not hold a charge for as long as it used to.

• Your VELscope may not work at all cordlessly.

How do I confirm that my VELscope Battery needs replacing?

If you experience a malfunction of any kind, please call the VELscope customer support line (when you are beside your unit) so we may do a FREE troubleshooting session over the telephone. 30% of the time it will seem like a battery failure but is actually something else and our technicians are trained to know what to look for.

Once the 5-minute troubleshooting session (outlined above) has been completed, we will provide you with a quotation. Your local dental dealer does not carry VELscope batteries because they require special storage and shipping requirements.

What kind of batteries does the VELscope Vx require?

Many batteries potentially fit inside of the VELscope battery chamber; however, they are not all powered the same.  VELscopes are sophisticated medical devices that require genuine VELscope batteries that have been designed specifically for them. These batteries have a proprietary chip inside that tells the VELscope important information about the state of the battery.

Please use only genuine VELscope replacement batteries.  Using a 3rd party battery may cause damage or performance issues and could void the warranty on your VELscope unit.

What is the lifespan of a VELscope battery?

The VELscope Vx batteries are doing a huge job producing such a powerful light in a cordless device. Just like any high-performance battery they will require replacement once they complete their lifecycle.

 When used daily, a VELscope unit’s batteries typically last 1-2 years depending on frequency of use and how often the VELscope is returned to the docking cradle. These high-performance batteries prefer to stay charged and they will last longer if the VELscope is always placed back into the docking cradle in between exams. 

May I order a spare battery as a back-up?

VELscope Vx Battery Care. Unfortunately, because high-performance batteries prefer to remain charged, they have a tendency to get damaged when left idle on the shelf for an extended period of time.  It is best to order them as required.

How do I replace my VELscope battery?

VELscope Vx Battery Care. Once your new battery arrives, simply undo the 2 screws on the bottom of the VELscope unit’s handpiece and slide your old battery out so you may insert the new one. 

How do I dispose of my old VELscope Battery?

VELscope Vx Battery Care. All cities have a battery recycling program as batteries are hazardous to our environment. If you need recycling details, they are likely posted on your city’s garbage website.

How long will it take for my battery to arrive?

Transport of Lithium ion batteries on aircraft are carefully restricted and controlled. VELscope Vx batteries are always shipped via ground service and so may take approximately 4-7 working days to arrive at your office.

How much do VELscope Vx batteries cost?

Please ask our support department for a quotation. Pricing will depend on your location, age of the unit and whether you are part of a group or DSO organization that has additional warranty or service contracts in place.

Can I use my VELscope while I am waiting for a new battery?

Yes, you may continue to use your VELscope by powering directly from the power supply by detaching the power cord from the Charging Cardle and connecting directly to the base of your handpiece.
